Because I use BFD3 effects which, whilst I know there may be better effects the margins are fine and I find it much quicker and more intuitive to use the on board effects and as they are effects made for use with drums I have found it gives me more ideas creatively.

Typically you would route your kick and snare to mono outs as these won't usually be panned left or right so stereo isn't needed. Having said that I have a standard template that does route kick, snare, hats, toms and cymbals to separate outputs. If like me you do most of your effects processing within BFD3 there's little need to use multi outputs. As far as multi output templates are concerned there a so may ways of doing this depending on how you use BFD3.
